In the city museum of Ushuaia, a nice black and white film shows how the beaver was proudly imported from Canada in the fifties. The hoped-for economic profit from meat and fur production failed to materialize. Today the beaver has become a plague because it deforests tierra de fuego extensively and has no natural enemies.
